Interview with Edmund McMillen

PBM: Thanks for taking time to do this interview, we appreciate it. Your site is very...how should I say...upsetting to some. Why do you think people take it so seriously? and do you get much hate mail?

Edmund: People get mad when they see what they dont wanna see.. 
no matter how much it goes on around them.. when they are forced to notice it, they get mad.  I got a lot of hate mail when i started the site.. but this month i only get about 1 or 2 a week

PBM: I personally dig your site, I can take a good dead baby joke like the next man, but some people cant. What is it about the whole dead baby thing that your site portrays?

Edmund: The dead baby is my mascot.. it represents the value of life now a days children are killed, neglected, beat, molested and aborted.. why not do something with whats left? recycle if you will thats the amarican way!

PBM: Haahaa! I get your point. Very American!! You are a patriot my dear sir. I visit your site alot and that yellow bird is hilarious!! What gave you the idea for him?

Edmund: I just wanted a cool cartoon animal... the bird looked stupid enough when i drew it.. so i went with it. I have to give some credit to my girlfreind Danielle though.. we joke about how stupid birds are all the time.

PBM: I have to admit...as sick as it is.....my favorite movie you have done so far is the back up files. I remember pissing my pants the first time I watched it. Where do you come up with some of these stories??

Edmund: I just put myself into the mind of the lowest form of life .. make him crazy.. and type... they seem to flow out pretty easy.

PBM: One of the most over looked things about your site seems to be the comics section. I noticed you have a new character called Lil Chubby..an erect penis? Whats up with that?

Edmund: Its just something i made about 4 years ago.. i made about 24 lil chubby strips.. thought i could use them on the site.. lil chubby comes from a comic i started about 4 years ago called... this is a cry for help... 

PBM: Thus the name of the site?

Edmund: The website is the continuation of the comic 
yep and lil chubby and the babies were the main strips in it.. so i had to bring them along for the ride.

PBM: My keen skills of observation has revealed to me that you have a new design for the site. I prefer this to the old. Any comments from your regulars yet on the new look?

Edmund: Everyone seems to like it. I mean I dont think anyone could say the old setup looked better.. because it didnt it was just something I threw together to get the site up.

PBM: So, are you making a living off of your site? Or is this a part time thang? I noticed you are trying to get published..any luck there?

Edmund: Well the sites been up for 2 months now... and i just started making money off it this last week .. so, so far no money.. 
and no publishers yet.. i did get an offer by a Fl mag. about using thicker than water... so we will see what happens .

PBM: Well good luck with that. I saw your latest animation on Newgrounds..."How to enlarge your penis". Now, I tried this 
at home and it really works like you said!! I lost alot of blood and was in intensive care for a month, but my cock is almost twice as long!! Thanks Ed!! How do you think NG has affected the traffic flow to your site?

Edmund: NG started me out.. and they keep me going.
I owe almost everything to them, they started me out.. and insipred me to make a website to put my animations on.  I owe a lot to the big sites who have backed me really. 

PBM: I agree..NG is great! I try to tap my interviewees for any drawing tips or info they can give on their Flash experience. Got any tips or tactics you wish to share with the masses? 

Edmund: get one of them pan pads... and use it... 

PBM: thats cool....lol

PBM: How do you do your art? With a mouse, scanner, digital tablet?

Edmund: tablet
I did the new site look with the mouse though.. 

PBM: So whats in the future for This is a cry for help? Any big events coming up?

Edmund: every week something new.  I hope to introduce a new on going animation some time in the summer... but intill then i update new content every monday.. and once a month ill add a new animation .

PBM: I like the fact that you are one of the only affiliates that keep your site updated with fresh content, props for that. Are there any other sites on the network you frequent?

Edmund: hmmm 

PBM: And dont feel like you have to say "Mindgames" so we dont "accidentally" make you look like an asswipe in this interview...heh.

Edmund: In the netwerk I usually check out slitfinger... I also have been checking out fucksociety.ca its my persoanl fav. and soon to be on the netwerk.. (or so I hear) 

PBM: Slitfinger is def. a favorite of mine too. I wish Brian would bring it back up to its former glory. Any games coming soon for your site?

Edmund: hmm.. maybe a new dead baby dressup in the near future... and i might hook up with tom to make a dead baby game, that is if he's still down with that idea...
